Following the appointment of Akın Gürlek, who was named Chief Public Prosecutor of Istanbul in October 2024 after serving as Deputy Minister of Justice, numerous operations were conducted against CHP-run municipalities in Istanbul. It has been learned that the CHP, whose municipalities have been targeted by operations and which faces ongoing legal cases, is preparing to stage a protest during the swearing-in ceremony to be held at the TBMM General Assembly today. It is reported that the party leadership has called available CHP deputies to Parliament, and that protests are expected upon Gürlek's entry into the General Assembly, along with objections raised during the oath-taking.
