As discussions continue regarding the convention planned for the spring of 2027 in the CHP, it has been claimed that a formula for a convention where Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu would emerge as the sole candidate is being discussed in party circles.
It was reported that CHP officials speaking to ANKA expect the Court of Cassation to approve the "absolute nullity" decision shortly and argue that, under current conditions, Kılıçdaroğlu should remain as chairman for at least one more term.
"FIRST, WE MUST REMOVE THE DAGGER FROM KEMAL BEY'S BACK"
It was stated that the aforementioned officials assessed the situation by saying, "First, we must remove the dagger from Kemal Bey's back. For this, there should be a convention with a single candidate, where only Kemal Bey is running."
While the convention calendar remains on the agenda, discussions regarding candidacy for the chairmanship have also accelerated. Former Mersin Deputy Aytuğ Atıcı was the first to announce his candidacy. Meanwhile, Muratpaşa Mayor Ümit Uysal announced that he would be a candidate for the chairmanship if Kılıçdaroğlu does not run.
It was expressed that party officials are confident that delegates will nominate Kılıçdaroğlu again and, for this reason, they want a convention with a single candidate to be held.
It was reported that the CHP Central Executive Board met yesterday under the chairmanship of Kılıçdaroğlu, and after the meeting, which lasted approximately three hours, CHP Spokesperson Müslim Sarı made a statement. Sarı announced that the suspension of member lists for the 38th Ordinary Convention has been postponed by 15 days.
According to party officials, this postponement does not change the convention calendar; preparations are continuing under the assumption that the convention will be held in the spring of 2027.
