Crisis between AKP and MHP in Parliament: 'They've lost their minds, who are you going to beat up?'

A major tension erupted between CHP and AKP deputies at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). The dispute broke out during a speech by CHP İzmir Deputy Tuncay Özkan regarding the 2026 budget. As Özkan took the floor to speak about the budget, tensions rose when AKP Group Deputy Chair Leyla Şahin Usta reacted to his remarks. This led to both verbal exchanges and physical interventions.

"THEY'VE LOST THEIR MINDS!"

As the tension escalated, MHP Deputy Speaker Celal Adan reacted sharply to AKP's Leyla Şahin Usta. Upon seeing Usta stand up and walk toward the CHP benches, Adan shouted, "They've lost their minds! Do not decide how I manage the Parliament. Where are you going after standing up? Who are you going to beat up? Sit in your place and take the floor!" Adan's remarks caused the atmosphere to become even more tense.

Following the verbal exchanges, the tension between AKP and CHP deputies increased further, turning into physical intervention. During the argument, there was pushing and shoving between deputies from both parties. In an environment where the Speaker of the Parliament attempted to intervene, the physical contact highlighted how high the tension in the Parliament had risen.

STRONG REACTION FROM ADAN: "SPEAK BY TAKING THE FLOOR"

MHP's Adan, who had previously stated that such situations should not occur at the parliamentary podium, said, "I was ashamed to intervene when a group deputy chair heckled a deputy while a speaker was at the podium." However, AKP's Usta standing up and walking toward the CHP benches after the verbal argument further intensified Adan's reaction.

Following the debates, proceedings resumed in the General Assembly of the Parliament.
