Deputy minister resigns to run for metropolitan mayor

As the March 31, 2024 local elections approach, the names of those seeking mayoral nominations have begun to emerge.

The resignation period for public officials wishing to run in the local elections ended yesterday (December 1) at 5:00 PM.

In this regard, Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services Rıdvan Duran stated in a declaration that he has concluded his tenure as Deputy Minister in order to become a candidate for the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality mayoral nomination.

Emphasizing that he has set out for a new race of service, Duran stated, "With the approval of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, I had the honor of serving my country and nation in public institutions. On this occasion, I would like to express my gratitude to our President, in particular, and to our relevant ministers for the trust and support they showed me during my time in office."

BECAME A CANDIDATE FOR SAKARYA METROPOLITAN MAYOR

Noting that he has applied for the Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality mayoral nomination to make a auspicious start by saying "Sakarya is a great love," Duran continued as follows:

"Until now, with the appreciation of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we have always been in the service of our country and nation in the institutions where I have served. Most recently, I had the opportunity to serve our country and nation in this field as Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services. We have rolled up our sleeves to continue our journey of service to our nation, which began in our Sakarya, within our city once again. I want to implement the knowledge and experience I have gained in various levels of bureaucracy for our city. I know that the people of Sakarya always deserve the best services. Our fellow citizens are always deeply attached to their city. I am in my city with the ideal of drawing an equal, fair, embracing, and inclusive vision in service and serving with this consciousness. I would like to emphasize that by turning the geopolitical position of our Sakarya into an opportunity, we will achieve firsts together in trade, production, technology, agriculture, culture, art, sports, education, and every field of urbanism."

Stating that he is aware of Sakarya's potential and will work with all his might to transform this potential into a livable and sustainable city identity with visionary touches, Duran included the following expressions in his statement: "I wish for my candidacy process to be auspicious on this occasion, and I offer my deepest respects and regards to you, my valued fellow citizens.
