New Welfare Party Chairman Suat Kılıç made assessments regarding early election debates during a press conference held after his party's Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting.
When asked whether President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's steps regarding retirees were a signal for an early election and whether they would support an election that could be held in April 2028, Kılıç argued that the government would largely determine the election date in line with its own wishes.
Once the CHP Chairman also said, 'Even if it is held one day earlier, it is an early election,' then good luck to anyone trying to stop the government now.
Kılıç stated that there was previously a general consensus in the opposition that the condition for an early election would be met if elections were moved forward by at least six months. However, according to Kılıç, Kılıçdaroğlu's statement on this issue eased the government's hand.
EMPHASIS ON 2027
Reminding that an early election decision requires the support of 360 deputies in Parliament, Kılıç stated that the AK Party and MHP would not be able to reach this number on their own, and therefore they would seek allies within Parliament.
Kılıç clearly stated that they would support an election date within 2027, saying, "We will support the date of any election to be held within 2027 in the vote. But we are not in favor of it being left to 2028."

The New Welfare leader argued that an election to be held in 2028 could not be considered an early election. Stating that his party is ready for an election, Kılıç expressed the view that Turkey cannot continue on its path with the current socio-economic conditions.
