Fatih Erbakan's reaction to Devlet Bahçeli regarding İmralı
Yeniden Refah Party leader Fatih Erbakan made statements regarding the possibility of early elections and potential visits to İmralı. Opposing Bahçeli's suggestion to visit İmralı, Erbakan stated that the ECHR's ruling on Demirtaş should be complied with.
Yeniden Refah Party Chairman Fatih Erbakan met with members of the press in Ankara ahead of his party's 3rd Ordinary Grand Congress. In his speech there, Erbakan shared his views on the possibility of early elections and other topics on the agenda.
Regarding early elections, Erbakan said, "According to poll results, the AK Party and MHP are struggling to reach 50+1 in their vote shares. For this reason, I do not think an early election will be held at this time. However, there is a need for change in Turkey."
OPPOSED THE İMRALI VISIT
Addressing MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli's proposal for a visit to İmralı, Erbakan said, "We had previously stated that Mr. Bahçeli, who is very keen on this matter, should be the one to hold the meeting."
DEMİRTAŞ RULING AND THE ECHR
Regarding the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruling on Selahattin Demirtaş, Fatih Erbakan stated, "Complying with the ECHR ruling and carrying out Demirtaş's release would be in accordance with the law."
On the subjects of the peace process and the fight against terrorism, Erbakan said, "It is not right for the DEM Party to equate our Kurdish brothers and sisters with the PKK. Their rights must be granted within the framework of equal citizenship, but this does not mean that Abdullah Öcalan should be released."
