'Fund' tension in budget talks: Opposition calls for Şimşek to resign

Discussions regarding the 2027 budget of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance began with tension at the Turkish Grand National Assembly Planning and Budget Committee.

Before the discussions, the YENİ Party group called on Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek to resign. YENİ Party Istanbul Deputy Özgür Karabat expressed his reaction to the fund fraud debates with the words, "The nation was robbed, the minister watched."

Tension in the committee meeting rose after AKP deputy Süleyman Şahan's remarks directed at the İYİ Party group, saying, "You are talking too much anyway."

Upon the increase in reactions from opposition deputies, Committee Chairman Mehmet Muş adjourned the meeting. It was reported that tension continued in the committee after Muş left the hall.

It was reported that after the break, discussions regarding the 2027 budget of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance continued.
