YENİ Party Chairman Özgür Özel will chair a meeting today of the Fund Crisis Desk established by his party regarding the fund crisis in capital markets.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at 11:00 AM at the YENİ Party Headquarters in Ankara. It is expected that the latest developments concerning the fund crisis and the steps the party will take in the coming period will be evaluated during the discussion.
The party's work on the fund crisis includes figures from the fields of economy, finance, and law. Previous meetings were attended by party executives such as Selin Sayek Böke, Kerim Rota, Deniz Yavuzyılmaz, Güldem Atabay, Bihlun Tamaylıgil, Ozan Bingöl, Özgür Karabat, Serkan Özcan, Ümit Özlale, and Yalçın Karatepe, as well as Murat Emir, Ali Mahir Başarır, Gökhan Günaydın, and Zeynel Emre.
Following allegations regarding transactions in certain investment funds and stocks in capital markets, the YENİ Party established a Fund Crisis Desk to monitor developments. Özel had previously described the crisis as the "fraud of the century" and announced that they had submitted a 15-article legislative proposal to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), citing the solution model implemented after the Madoff scandal in the US as an example.
Most recently, in a statement made in Denizli on October 25, Özel criticized the government, arguing that the investigation and accountability process regarding the fund crisis remained insufficient.
