Public tender swamp! AKP deputy's family has earned millions

AKP Gaziantep Deputy Mehmet Eyup Özkeçeci was recently revealed to have sold 115 million TL worth of sacks to the Turkish Sugar Factories, and now it has emerged that AKP deputy Derya Bakbak's family company has also earned millions.

The Baksan Yürüyen Merdiven Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi, which belongs to the family members of AKP deputy Bakbak—who has been elected for three terms—sells various vehicles such as fire trucks, sewer cleaning and clearing vehicles, cleaning vehicles, funeral vehicles, and water tankers. Almost all of the company's clients are municipalities.

According to a report by İsmail Arı from BirGün; it has been revealed that the company, managed by Deputy Bakbak's husband Bülent Bakbak, her son Furkan Bakbak, and other family members, has received 155 public tenders worth 144 million TL over the last 15 years.

PARTICIPATED IN THE TENDER ALONE

One of the latest tenders won by the company was organized by the Kahta Municipality in Adıyaman. Only the Bakbak family's company participated in the tender held on July 26, 2024, under the name “Procurement of fire and search and rescue vehicle.” The municipality paid 8 million 495 thousand TL to the company from its coffers.

Deputy Derya Bakbak left questions unanswered.

THERE WAS ALSO A WORKPLACE FATALITY

In 2022, the Bakbak family made headlines due to a workplace fatality. An explosion occurred at the factory manufacturing escalators in the Gaziantep 1st Organized Industrial Zone. Medical teams arriving at the factory where the explosion took place determined that two workers had lost their lives at the scene.
