Remarkable moments occurred in the protocol rows during the ceremony held in İzmir as part of the 103rd anniversary of the October 29 Republic Day.
The ceremony at Cumhuriyet Square was attended by İzmir Governor Dr. Süleyman Elban, Aegean Army Garrison Commander Lieutenant General Zorlu Topaloğlu, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay, İzmir deputies and provincial chairs of political parties, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and numerous citizens of İzmir.
Before the ceremony, Governor Elban, Lieutenant General Topaloğlu, and Cemil Tugay greeted the area from the ceremonial vehicle. Later, the officials moved to the protocol area and exchanged holiday greetings with the deputies.
According to the report by Cumhuriyet, YENİ Party İzmir deputies Deniz Yücel, Murat Bakan, and Ednan Arslan stood up to greet Governor Elban and Lieutenant General Topaloğlu. However, it was observed that the deputies remained seated in their chairs when Cemil Tugay arrived at the protocol area and did not exchange greetings with Tugay.
