The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) released a statement titled "We Must Take Back the Stolen Republic!" on the occasion of the October 29 Republic Day. The party's statement emphasized that the Republic should be addressed not merely as a form of government, but through the lens of the people's living conditions, the demand for equality, and the rights of the working class.
The TKP stated that the reconstruction of the Republic would be possible through a program based on the welfare of the people and the security of citizens. The statement included the following: "The Republic will exist if our people can bring bread home with their sweat, if they can receive their due, if they can build a happy life for themselves and their families, and if the faces of our children and our elderly can smile."
The party targeted the capitalist class by drawing attention to the contradiction between the corporate advertisements praising the Republic during holidays and the problems the people face. The statement declared, "The truth is that they stole the Republic."

EMPHASIS ON THE REPUBLIC OF THE WORKING CLASS
The statement argued that workers, retirees, students, farmers, and tradespeople must unite around a common political program. The TKP noted the need for "a political program where the rule of the people is established instead of the reign of the greedy."
According to the TKP, the way to defend the Republic is to settle accounts with the big capital that benefits from the liquidation of the Republic's gains. The statement expressed that the approach of a "reasonable bourgeoisie" or "tamed capitalism" must be rejected.
The party stated that Republican resistance was suppressed during the AKP government era and that a strong social resistance could not be built against the liquidation of Republican values. The statement, which argued that this situation is linked to a lack of class perspective, expressed that the duty to protect the Republican revolution cannot be left to institutions such as the military, the judiciary, or the bureaucracy.
While stating that it understands the concerns of Republican segments seeking an alternative to the AKP government, the TKP argued that there is no new founding will within the capitalist order that will save Turkey. The statement said, "The Republic is doomed to be defeated as long as the capitalist order continues."
At the end of the statement, it was emphasized that a new Republic can be built for the people. The TKP saluted the heroes of the War of Independence and the founding of the Republic, the poor Anatolian peasants, the patriotic intellectuals and officers, and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
For our country, for our working class, for our cause, we want the Republic to the end, and we know, you should know too: The Republic will only and only be possible again under the rule of the working class.
