Türköne: Erdoğan will halt the resolution process, Bahçeli will call for early elections
Mümtazer Türköne has claimed that President Erdoğan will put an end to the resolution process and that MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli will call for early elections following this development.
Mümtazer Türköne, known for his proximity to Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli, has made striking statements regarding the resolution process. Türköne claimed that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan would undermine the resolution process and that Bahçeli would call for early elections in response to this situation.
Türköne stated, "There is no chance for the goal of a 'terror-free Turkey' to succeed on an unlawful foundation. Bahçeli is aware of this, which is why he says the İmamoğlu case is political and should be concluded as soon as possible." Emphasizing Bahçeli's commitment to the resolution process, Türköne noted that he is against any initiative that would disrupt the process.
BAHÇELİ'S CALL FOR EARLY ELECTIONS
Türköne suggested that Erdoğan would obstruct the resolution process and that, for this reason, Bahçeli would be forced to lead Turkey toward early elections. Stating that Erdoğan believes a return to the rule of law would weaken his own power, Türköne expressed that he would therefore attempt to end the process.
THE FUTURE OF THE RESOLUTION PROCESS
Türköne stated that Bahçeli and Abdullah Öcalan are building a new nation-state and that the resolution process serves this purpose. "Turks and Kurds are carrying out a nation-state project as a single nation," said Türköne, adding that this project aims to reconstruct the 100-year-old understanding of the nation-state.
PAST EVENTS
Devlet Bahçeli had stated in 2020 that Türköne should be retried. The Court of Cassation decided to overturn some of the convictions, including that of Türköne, due to incomplete investigation, and Türköne was subsequently released.
