Former AKP MP Şamil Tayyar made a notable assessment regarding the defeat of candidates supported by AKP officials in elections held for the No. 2 bar associations in Istanbul and Ankara, as well as in certain chambers of commerce and industry.
Sharing on his social media account, Tayyar stated that candidates presented as the "AK Party's candidate" lost the elections in both Istanbul and Ankara. Expressing that similar results were obtained in chamber of commerce and industry elections in some provinces, including Bursa and Kütahya, Tayyar stated that he does not view this picture merely as the result of local races.
According to Tayyar, some of the losing candidates attempted to create a perception that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan supported them, but this method did not change the outcome at the ballot box.
TAYYAR LISTED THREE REASONS
Tayyar interpreted the election results under three headings. Arguing that there is a strong wave of change in society, Tayyar stated that voters want a competitive environment where they can reflect their will. He claimed that reactions to general policies manifest themselves even in non-political ballot boxes.
Using the phrase "You will listen to the voice of society and take its will into account" in his post, Tayyar said that support should not be given to wrong practices and that one should not stray from what is right.
Tayyar's statement added a new topic to the evaluation discussions that have begun in AKP circles following the results obtained by candidates close to the government in bar association and chamber elections.
