Erzin Mayor Ökkeş Elmasoğlu announced that he has left the CHP and will continue his political career in the New Party.
A notable resignation process has taken place within the CHP in the Erzin district of Hatay. Erzin Mayor Ökkeş Elmasoğlu announced that he has left the CHP and joined the New Party, which was founded under the leadership of Özgür Özel.
Speaking to journalists in front of the CHP Erzin District Headquarters, Elmasoğlu stated that he has been a member of the CHP since he was 18 years old and that his father had also served as the party's district chairman for many years.
''I have been a member of this party since I was 18. My father served as the Erzin District Chairman for years. Since we no longer have the opportunity to engage in politics within the CHP, we are all moving together from here to the NEW Party, which was founded under the chairmanship of Mr. Özgür Özel. We have all expressed our will to switch here together. We believe that, God willing, we will continue our path to power with the NEW Party.''
Following Elmasoğlu's statement, it was reported that CHP Erzin District Chairman Ali Hamdullah Vural and the district administration also decided to resign from the party en masse and join the New Party.
