Who is Kılıçdaroğlu considering to replace Gürsel Tekin? Two names emerge for the CHP İstanbul Provincial Presidency

Following the decision by the Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance to lift the previously imposed interim injunctions regarding the CHP İstanbul Provincial Congress, the search for a new appointment for the party's Istanbul organization has come to the agenda.

The court terminated the duties of Gürsel Tekin and the temporary committee appointed under the injunction and ruled that the decision be sent to the Istanbul Provincial Election Board. The main lawsuit regarding the cancellation of the congress is still ongoing.

It is stated that the issue of the appointment for the CHP İstanbul Provincial Presidency will be addressed at the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting expected to be held on Thursday. In party circles, it is expressed that the possibility of continuing with Gürsel Tekin in the current situation is also being evaluated among the options.

According to the report by Mahir Kılıç from Habertürk, one of the names mentioned in the corridors alongside Tekin is former Kağıthane District Chair Mehmet Ali Yüksel. Following the second round of the 2023 elections, Yüksel was appointed as the "Chief Advisor to the Chairman" by the then-CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to manage political affairs and election propaganda efforts.

Another name that has come to the agenda is Selçuk Sarıyar. Sarıyar was elected as a member of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Beşiktaş Municipal Council in the 2019 local elections, and also served as the Secretary of the CHP Group at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

The decision regarding the new appointment is expected to become clear following the court process and internal party evaluations.
