Students from the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) announced that two students were detained due to a banner hung ahead of Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin's visit to Istanbul's Kadıköy High School.
In a statement made on the TİP students' social media account, it was stated that Student Bureau members Nevin Tekin and Nehir Dizdar were "just detained." The statement expressed reaction to the detention decision and demanded the release of the two students.

The statement in question said, "Those looking for criminals should not look at students' homes, but at Yusuf Tekin." Recalling their previous protests against the MESEM workshop, the TİP students argued that the pressure would not silence them.
The statement continued, "We will not take a single step back from telling the truth. Yusuf Tekin is the primary person responsible for the child deaths occurring in this country. He must resign immediately and be put on trial."
