EngelliWeb: At least 207 X accounts blocked from access in Turkey in the last two days

EngelliWeb announced that at least 207 X accounts were blocked from access in Turkey between November 1-2, 2026. The post stated that the vast majority of the identified accounts were made invisible from Turkey by X.

It was reported that the accounts blocked from access include the main and backup accounts of retired colonel Orkun Özeller, as well as the accounts of presenter and author Ayşenur Yazıcı, economist T. Sabri Öncü, and doctor Cem Baykal.

The image in EngelliWeb's post indicated that the access blocks were implemented under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651, citing the "protection of public order" as the justification.

Making accounts invisible from Turkey on social media platforms means that users cannot directly access the profiles in question from within the country. EngelliWeb is known for its work in monitoring and reporting access block decisions to the public.
