650 new vehicles for the IETT fleet from IMM

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has announced an investment program prepared to add 650 new vehicles to the IETT fleet. As part of the investment of approximately 25 billion liras, 400 new buses, 100 new metrobus vehicles, 50 electric buses, and 100 articulated buses will be included in the fleet.

Speaking at the promotional event held at the İETT Edirnekapı Garage in Fatih, IMM Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan stated that with this new procurement, 18 percent of the IETT fleet would be renewed. Aslan also noted that the delivery process for some of the vehicles has already been completed.

In his statement, Aslan said, "We have now launched a much larger investment drive. With an investment of nearly 100 billion liras, we are bringing 2,000 new, zero-kilometer vehicles to Istanbul."

Aslan stated that the IMM has grown the fleet by 23 percent by purchasing 700 new vehicles over the last 7 years. The 650 vehicles to be purchased for the IETT in the first phase of the new investment plan are aimed at contributing to the public transportation capacity in Istanbul.

The program concluded with a ribbon-cutting ceremony following the speeches.
