Meta AI arrives in Threads direct messages: Users will be able to chat one-on-one with AI
Meta has announced that Meta AI is now being rolled out globally in Threads direct messages. The new feature offers a private channel for content analysis and summarization.
Meta has announced that its AI assistant, Meta AI, is now available in Threads direct messages worldwide. The new feature allows users to communicate one-on-one with Meta AI without having to post publicly.
According to the company's statement, the DM interface will provide Threads users with the ability to analyze content, summarize it, and ask follow-up questions on various topics. This creates a more personal space for usage, without the need for responses generated by Meta AI to appear in public feeds.

As part of the new feature, users will be able to share Threads posts, images, links, or videos directly with Meta AI within the chat. The assistant will be able to analyze the context of the shared content to answer the user's questions.
Meta highlighted example use cases such as asking why a trending topic is popular, requesting summaries of complex texts, or getting information about lesser-known concepts. In this respect, the feature moves the content discovery and interpretation process within Threads to the DM channel.

The innovation coming to Threads is also seen as a step consistent with the capabilities Meta AI already offers on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The company stated that it will continue testing Meta AI within public feeds on Threads in certain global markets, taking user feedback into account.
