The world's largest cruise ship sets sail on its maiden voyage

The world's largest cruise ship, "Icon of the Seas," has set sail on its maiden voyage with a capacity to accommodate more than 10,000 people. Departing from the port of Miami, the giant ship draws attention for being designed in a way that makes the Titanic look like a small ferry rather than a massive ocean liner. The first voyage on the ship took place for a week-long Caribbean tour, earning it the title of the world's largest cruise ship.

Built by Royal Caribbean, Icon of the Seas will be the first of a massive class of ships named the Icon class. Approximately 365 meters long, the ship represents great grandeur with its 20 decks. In addition to its 7,600-passenger capacity, the ship also accommodates a crew of 2,350. It features amenities such as a 17-meter waterfall, 40 different restaurants and bars, seven swimming pools, and an artificial lake created with 150,000 liters of water.

It is stated that Icon of the Seas adopts an eco-friendly approach. The ship uses liquefied natural gas and produces 24 percent fewer carbon emissions than the limits set by the International Maritime Organization. Royal Caribbean had previously announced its goal to be carbon neutral by 2035.

While the cost of the giant ship reached 2 billion dollars, ticket prices vary depending on the travel date and demand. While the most expensive tickets for Icon of the Seas are sold for 26,000-27,000 dollars, it is noted that almost all tickets for its next five voyages are already sold out.
