'X has opened a representative office in Turkey'
Minister of Transport Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has opened a representative office in Turkey.
Uraloğlu announced that the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, which had been warned for some time to open a representative office, has now done so in Turkey.
In his statement, Minister Uraloğlu said, "If X had not opened a representative office in Turkey, it would have faced a bandwidth throttling penalty."
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
The social media platform “X” had been warned to open a representative office in Turkey, and an advertising ban had been imposed on the platform in Turkey until such an office was opened.
When asked in recent months whether a bandwidth throttling penalty would be imposed on X as an additional sanction, Uraloğlu had said, “X still has not appointed a representative to Turkey. A legal regulation will also be required regarding this.
Our negotiations are still ongoing. There is an advertising ban currently in effect. Following that, what you mentioned (bandwidth throttling) is also on our agenda,” he had stated.
