Arbitration Board upholds penalties for two figures in incident-filled derby!
The 4-match bans handed to Fenerbahçe assistant coaches Salvatore Foti and Sandro Zufic have been upheld by the Arbitration Board.
Following the incident-filled match between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray in the Turkish Cup, the penalties issued to Fenerbahçe assistant coaches Salvatore Foti and Sandro Zufic have become a major topic of discussion. Although Fenerbahçe appealed these penalties, the Arbitration Board decided that the sanctions were appropriate.
In the statement released by the Arbitration Board, it was noted that Salvatore Foti received a 4-match ban and a 117,000 TL fine for insulting an opposing team player. Similarly, it was stated that Sandro Zufic received a 4-match ban and a 78,000 TL fine for unsportsmanlike conduct toward the match referee. The Board rejected Fenerbahçe's appeal, stating that both penalties were in accordance with the law.
The statement included the following remarks:
'The appeal by Fenerbahçe Futbol A.Ş. regarding the decision of the PFDK dated 05.04.2025 and numbered E.2024-2025/992 – K.2024-2025/1227 concerning coaches Salvatore Foti and Sandro Zufic has been reviewed. As a result of the deliberation;
It has been determined that there is no inaccuracy in terms of evidence, legal classification, and sentencing in the decision to punish Fenerbahçe Futbol A.Ş. coach Salvatore Foti with a 4-official-match ban from entering the locker room and the bench, and a 117,000.00 TL fine, in accordance with Articles 41/1-c and 35/4 of the FDT, due to his insult toward an opposing team player; therefore, the application has been rejected and the decision has been upheld, unanimously,
It has been determined that there is no inaccuracy in terms of evidence, legal classification, and sentencing in the decision to punish Fenerbahçe Futbol A.Ş. coach Sandro Zufic with a 4-official-match ban from entering the locker room and the bench, and a 78,000.00 TL fine, in accordance with Articles 36/5-c and 35/4 of the FDT, due to his unsportsmanlike conduct involving physical interference toward the match referee; therefore, the application has been rejected and the decision has been upheld, by majority vote, it has been decided.'
