The Australian Grand Prix, the 18th leg of the MotoGP World Championship, could not be held due to heavy rain affecting the Phillip Island Circuit.

In a statement from the organization, it was noted that adverse weather conditions impacted race safety, stating, "Due to severe weather conditions and low visibility hindering the operations of the medical helicopter, the MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 races of the Australian Grand Prix have been cancelled."

Following the cancellation decision, the riders took a symbolic lap accompanied by the safety car. Stopping on the main straight, the riders greeted the fans in the stands and bid farewell to the Phillip Island Circuit, which will be removed from the MotoGP calendar next year.

The 19th stage of the MotoGP season, the Malaysian Grand Prix, will be held on November 1.
