Dries Mertens' future at Galatasaray has been decided
Dries Mertens, who made a significant contribution to Galatasaray's back-to-back championship titles, gave the good news to the yellow-red fans in a statement to the Belgian press.
Dries Mertens, one of the architects of the success at Galatasaray, which finished the last two seasons as champions in the Süper Lig, has reached the end of his contract.
The Belgian footballer, who has been in talks with the club for some time, has announced his decision regarding his career.
Speaking to La Derniere Heure from Belgium, Mertens said, "I will play one more season at Galatasaray and then retire from football."
Mertens, who will turn 38 on May 6, appeared in 51 matches across all competitions last season, scoring 12 goals and providing 16 assists.
The star footballer finished the season as the assist king in the Süper Lig.
