Dries Mertens hangs up his boots: Time for a new challenge
Belgian footballer Dries Mertens has ended his playing career at the age of 38.
Speaking at the Marktrock Festival held in the Belgian city of Leuven, Mertens announced his retirement from football. He stated, "I have retired and quit football. It is now time for a new challenge."
Mertens, who most recently played for Galatasaray, left Turkey in June. During his time with the yellow-reds, he celebrated 3 Süper Lig titles, 1 Turkish Cup, and 1 Super Cup victory.
