Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek stated that they are planning a farewell ceremony for Mauro Icardi, who has left the team, and that they are awaiting a response from the Argentine player.
Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek made statements regarding the departure of Mauro Icardi during the club's regular July council meeting. Speaking at the meeting held in the Özhan Canaydın Conference Hall at the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex RAMS Park, Özbek emphasized that the Argentine footballer holds an important place for the club.
Özbek stated that Icardi's contributions to Galatasaray should not be forgotten and mentioned that they are planning a farewell ceremony befitting the club for the player.
The Galatasaray President said, "I believe the service he provided to us should never be forgotten. He is one of our iconic players. A time for parting has come. We have planned a farewell ceremony that befits Galatasaray and highlights the services he has rendered."
Stating that the ceremony plan has been conveyed to Icardi, Özbek expressed that they are waiting for a response to the invitation. Özbek said, "We have conveyed it to him, and I am waiting for his response."
Özbek also noted that Galatasaray's path to success is above everything else, stating that no player, president, or management can adopt an attitude that would overshadow the club's success. Noting that they do not deny Icardi's services, Özbek added, "I invited him for the final part. I am waiting for him to accept."
