Galatasaray's star player has left Istanbul
Belgian footballer Dries Mertens, who had a successful career at Galatasaray, has left Istanbul.
Dries Mertens, who won 3 Süper Lig titles, 1 Turkish Cup, and 1 Super Cup while wearing the Galatasaray jersey, has left Istanbul following the expiration of his contract with the yellow-red club.

The experienced player, who finished the 2024-2025 season with a double trophy, departed from Istanbul Airport with his family to head to Naples.

The 38-year-old Mertens did not make a statement to the press, but he did not turn down requests from citizens at the airport who wanted to take photos with him. Mertens' farewell was an emotional moment for Galatasaray fans.
