The 2 referees identified as having placed bets have been revealed: The scale of the scandal is growing

The statement made by Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu has caused a major stir in the football community. Hacıosmanoğlu announced that 371 out of 571 referees officiating in professional leagues have betting accounts, and 152 of them are actively placing bets.

Following the statement, the question of "Who are these referees?" has come to the fore in the public eye, while journalist Umut Eken claimed in a post on his social media account that he had reached the names of two of the Süper Lig referees.

"TWO SÜPER LİG REFEREES' ACCOUNTS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED"

According to Eken's claim, some of the top-class referees officiating in the Süper Lig and the 1st League have opened accounts on betting platforms. Eken shared the initials of the two referees he reached as A.Ş. and T.D.

Journalist Eken stated, "One of the referees is among those who received the most match assignments last season and this season. The other is a referee who occupied the football agenda for a long time due to a decision he made last year."

Eken also added, "These two referees' accounts were not opened on the platforms that acquired the broadcasting rights for the 2nd and 3rd Leagues in the 2020-2021 season, but on a different platform where MHK President Ferhat Gündoğdu also has an account. As I confirm the referees with betting accounts, I will share their initials with my lawyer's permission."

According to the information obtained, it is alleged that similar situations have been identified not only in the Süper Lig but also in the lower leagues. According to the information shared by Umut Eken, it is claimed that another referee officiating in the lower leagues, F.A., also has a betting account.
