National modern pentathlete Tulya Kesebir has achieved a significant success at the UIPM Modern Pentathlon U17 World Championships held in Kaunas, Lithuania. According to information shared by her family with 12punto, the 15-year-old athlete secured the world runner-up title in the U17 women's category.
A total of 76 female athletes from 27 countries competed in the event, which took place between July 22 and July 26, 2026. Representing Turkey, Kesebir reached the silver medal in the individual category, establishing herself among the young athletes to watch in modern pentathlon.

Kesebir's recent successes are not limited to the world championships. According to the list of results shared by the family, the young athlete also achieved a world championship title in the women's team competition at the same event; she also became the European runner-up in the individual women's category at the UIPM Modern Pentathlon U17 European Championships in Spain. A second-place finish was also achieved in the mixed team competition.

INTENSE PACE IN FIVE DISCIPLINES
It was stated that Tulya Kesebir started sports with swimming at the age of 5 and was later introduced to modern pentathlon. Modern pentathlon consists of five different disciplines: fencing, obstacle course, swimming, shooting, and athletics. In this respect, it requires athletes to prepare with an intense program that demands both technical skills and high endurance.
According to the family, Kesebir performs approximately three training sessions a day while continuing her school life. The fact that the training sessions take place in different parts of Ankara also requires significant effort in terms of transportation and organization.

The family stated that due to the multi-disciplinary nature of modern pentathlon, they face high costs in items such as equipment, coaching, transportation, nutritional support, and physiotherapy. It was noted that financial and moral support is needed for Kesebir to continue her sports career in a sustainable way.
The degrees achieved by Tulya Kesebir are also important for the recognition of modern pentathlon in Turkey. The young athlete's rise in international competitions is also shown as an example for other athletes turning to the same branch.
