National wrestler Rıza Kayaalp receives 4-year ban
The Court of Arbitration for Sport Anti-Doping Division (CAS ADD) has handed national wrestler Rıza Kayaalp a 4-year ban due to a positive doping test. Furthermore, all titles won by Kayaalp since May 28, 2024, will be annulled. The national athlete is preparing to appeal the decision.
It has been announced that national athlete Rıza Kayaalp, one of the prominent figures in Turkish wrestling, has been handed a 4-year ban for using a prohibited substance. In a statement released by the International Testing Agency (ITA), it was stated that the prohibited substance 'Trimetazidine' was detected in a sample taken from Kayaalp on May 28, 2024.
Following this development, the Court of Arbitration for Sport Anti-Doping Division (CAS ADD) imposed a four-year period of ineligibility on Kayaalp, effective from July 1, 2024, until June 30, 2028. Additionally, it was decided that all sporting achievements attained after May 28, 2024, would be declared invalid.
The experienced wrestler announced that he would appeal the penalty imposed on him and initiate legal proceedings.
