Roberto Mancini has been appointed as the head coach of the Italian national football team. The Italian Football Federation announced that the 61-year-old manager is the new head coach of the national team.
In a statement from the federation, it was stated, "Roberto Mancini has become the new head coach of the national team."
The Gennaro Gattuso era in Italy came to an end after the team lost on penalties to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup European Qualifiers play-off final.
With this result, Italy lost its chance to participate in the World Cup finals and missed the tournament for the third consecutive time. Following the parting of ways with Gattuso, the federation decided to start a new era for the national team with Mancini.
