World-famous stars wore its jersey: Italy’s most historic club declares bankruptcy
Founded in 1911, Brescia Calcio has ceased operations following a court-ordered liquidation. The club's debt is reported to exceed 20 million Euros.
A 115-year journey has come to an end for Brescia Calcio, one of the historic clubs of Italian football. Founded in 1911, the club announced that it has gone bankrupt and officially ceased operations following a financial crisis.
It was stated that the Brescia Court ordered the liquidation of the club due to debts exceeding 20 million Euros. According to reports in the Italian press, the club has officially closed following the decision.
FINANCIAL CRISIS AND SPORTING PENALTIES
Long-standing financial problems were the deciding factor in the process leading to Brescia's closure. It was reported that the club had missed payments, failed to meet the financial obligations mandated by Italian football authorities, and consequently lost its financial credibility.
Prior to the bankruptcy decision, Brescia also faced sporting sanctions. The club, which was relegated after receiving point deductions due to administrative and financial irregularities, was subsequently unable to meet the requirements to compete in professional leagues.

Although Brescia never won major national championships in its history, it left an important legacy in Italian football. The club competed in Serie A for 23 seasons and won the Serie B title 4 times.
Brescia's best finish in Serie A was 8th place, achieved in the 2000/01 season under the leadership of Roberto Baggio. Stars such as Roberto Baggio, Andrea Pirlo, Pep Guardiola, Luca Toni, Mario Balotelli, and Sandro Tonali were among the names who wore the club's jersey.
