The Tourist Eastern Express, one of Turkey's prominent winter tourism routes, is preparing to set off again for the 2026-2027 season. The first trip on the Ankara-Kars line will depart from Ankara on December 21. The return trip will take place from Kars to Ankara on December 23.
Kars Tourism Association President Halit Özer stated in his announcement ahead of the new season that the train will once again offer a nostalgic travel experience accompanied by snowy landscapes. Özer emphasized that passengers purchasing tickets should pay particular attention to the difference between the Tourist Eastern Express and the regular Eastern Express.
According to the information provided by Özer, 60 percent of the Tourist Eastern Express tickets were offered for sale through TÜRSAB-approved travel agencies, while 40 percent were sold directly through TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş. Citizens can also access ticket transactions via the TCDD mobile application.
The price of a room on the train, which can accommodate two people, varies according to the season. While the room price is set at 15 thousand TL in December, this amount rises to 18 thousand TL in late January and to 20 thousand TL during the semester break.
Stating that the Tourist Eastern Express is not just a transportation option but also a tourist route for those who want to experience the winter landscapes of Eastern Anatolia, Özer made a call to domestic and foreign guests who want to come to Kars:
"We invite our guests who have not yet seen it to our city, to a nostalgic city with a tourist route, to the land of snow. Come one, come all."
