Horrific accident in Maltepe: 9 injured, 2 in critical condition

Nine people, two of whom are in critical condition, were injured in a traffic accident involving two vehicles in Maltepe, Istanbul.

The accident occurred around 02:30 at night on Turgut Özal Boulevard in the Yalı neighborhood. A car with license plate 34 DYD 055 and another vehicle, whose license plate could not be identified, collided for reasons yet unknown.

One of the vehicles, sent spinning by the impact, struck an electric pole on the side of the road. While the pole was bent by the force of the collision, numerous health, fire, and police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification.

The 9 injured individuals were taken to nearby hospitals after receiving initial medical intervention from emergency teams at the scene. It was learned that 2 of the injured are in critical condition.

Due to the accident, the Maltepe coastal road in the direction of Kadıköy was closed to vehicle traffic for a while. Traffic returned to normal after the vehicles involved in the accident were removed from the road with the help of a tow truck. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
