In Istanbul's Bahçelievler district, the collapse of a retaining wall at a construction site where foundation excavation was underway caused subsidence in two adjacent buildings. Following the incident, which occurred around 03:00 on Çavuşpaşa Street in the Siyavuşpaşa neighborhood, a total of 20 apartments in the 6 and 7-story buildings were evacuated as a precaution.
According to the information obtained, approximately 10 centimeters of subsidence occurred in the ground of the two buildings following the collapse of the retaining wall for reasons yet to be determined. Upon hearing cracking sounds from the buildings and feeling tremors, residents and local citizens took to the street.

Upon notification, fire, municipal police, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the area as a precaution. While police and municipal teams took security measures in the vicinity, residents were allowed to retrieve some of their belongings in a controlled manner.

20 APARTMENTS EVACUATED
A young resident of the neighborhood described what they experienced during the incident, saying, "I had gone to bed around 2 AM. I woke up to shouting. The incident happened around 3 AM. I fell to the ground while getting up. I didn't feel it that much, but the teams had surrounded the building. They evacuated both buildings."

Stating that the building was evacuated, Ozan Ünsal said, "Cracks formed in the building due to the shifting of the retaining wall of the building in the back. The entire building was evacuated. The doors became warped. The building was evacuated because the backyard wall collapsed."
The teams' investigations into the buildings where the ground subsidence occurred and the construction site are ongoing.
