Ship suffers breakdown in the Dardanelles: Coastal Safety takes action

A Barbados-flagged dry cargo ship that suffered a mechanical failure while passing through the Dardanelles was towed to a safe area with the intervention of Coastal Safety teams.

The 119-meter-long dry cargo ship named OCEAN MARY, which was sailing from Yalova to Aliağa, broke down off the coast of Gallipoli. The ship's captain reported the situation via radio to the Dardanelles Vessel Traffic Services Center Directorate.

Following the notification, the Kurtarma-18 and Kurtarma-19 tugboats belonging to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety were dispatched to the region.

Other ships passing through the strait were informed to prevent any potential disruptions. The disabled ship was anchored at the Doğanarslan Anchorage Area under the escort of the tugboats.
