Moldova, which is continuing its accession process to the European Union, has signaled preparations for a new regulation in its visa policy. The announcement has led to interpretations that the current visa-free travel practice for citizens of 11 countries, including Turkey, may change.
Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan stated on the "Cutia Neagra" program broadcast on TV8 that his country is required to align its visa policy with EU rules. Tofan's statement was interpreted as meaning that the introduction of a visa requirement for the countries in question could be on the agenda.

According to the report, the list includes Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan, in addition to Turkey. However, details regarding the timeline for when the regulation will come into effect or how its scope will be determined have not yet been clarified.
Moldova's potential move is seen as part of the process of bringing its legislation and practices closer to Union standards in line with its goal of joining the EU. If the decision is finalized, there may be changes to the travel conditions for Turkish citizens to Moldova.
