In the report prepared as a result of the evaluation by the 1st Specialization Board of the Council of Forensic Medicine (ATK), it was noted that for Denizolgun, who was found dead in his home on September 7, 2016, scopy, post-mortem examination, and autopsy procedures were performed by the Morgue Specialization Department of the Council of Forensic Medicine on September 8, 2016, and samples were taken for biological, toxicological, and histopathological examination during the autopsy.
The report stated that the findings obtained from the radiological imaging, post-mortem examination, and autopsy procedures, as well as the toxicological and histopathological examination of the samples taken during the autopsy, led to the conclusion that Denizolgun's death occurred as a result of a pathological (non-traumatic) brain hemorrhage, and that this report was sent to the Beykoz Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on October 17, 2016.
Samples taken from his grave were examined
The report stated that samples taken as a result of the exhumation performed on Denizolgun's grave on August 19 were analyzed and examined.
The report indicated that the analysis and examination detected varying amounts of molybdenum, cadmium, mercury, thallium, lead, cobalt, nickel, arsenic, and vanadium in the bones obtained from the grave, in the soil samples taken, and in the soil samples taken from a suitable distance from the grave for reference examination, and noted that antimony was also detected in one piece of bone sample in addition to these.
In the report, it was stated that in the stereomicroscopic examination of the neck cartilage and neck bone fragments, the neck bone body was intact, the neck cartilage was largely calcified, a honeycomb-like tissue was observed due to incomplete calcification with localized tissue loss, and fracture lines and deformations due to fractures were seen in some places.
Determination that heavy metals detected in his tissues were at normal levels
The report stated that a fracture was detected in the thyroid cartilage during the examination of the samples obtained through exhumation, and that the fracture occurred during the burial and exhumation processes.
The report stated that the 3 ecchymoses (bruises) identified in the chest area during the post-mortem examination and autopsy had occurred within 3-14 days prior to his death, and noted that they were not of a nature that could cause death.
The report included the following statements:
"Considering that there is no medical evidence that the person was killed by covering the mouth and nose, applying pressure to the neck, or pressing on the chest, that there is no medical evidence that the person died due to traumatic impact, and that the heavy metals detected in the autopsy and in the tissues obtained through exhumation were at normal levels, and that no other toxic substances sought were found, it is concluded that there is no medical evidence that the person died of poisoning; it is opined that the death may have occurred on September 6, 2016, although not definitively, and that the death of the person, who had high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease, occurred as a result of a brain hemorrhage due to high blood pressure."
As a result of the evaluation made with the radiological examination (scopy), post-mortem examination, autopsy, exhumation, and the examination of the samples taken from Denizolgun, the finding that "there is no medical evidence that the person was killed by covering the mouth and nose, applying pressure to the neck, or pressing on the chest, there is no medical evidence that the person died due to traumatic impact, there is no medical evidence that the person died of poisoning, and the death of the person, who had high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease, occurred as a result of a brain hemorrhage due to high blood pressure" was included in the report.
