Attack on US base in Jordan: 3 soldiers killed
In a statement regarding the drone attack on a US base in Jordan, US President Joe Biden said, "We know it was carried out by radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq."
It has been reported that 3 US soldiers were killed and 34 were wounded in a drone attack targeting US forces stationed in northeastern Jordan, near the Syrian border.
US President Joe Biden pointed to Iran regarding the drone attack on the base located in a region near the Syrian border in Jordan. The Islamic Resistance Organization, which is backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for the attack.
"WE WILL HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE"
Biden stated, "Last night, 3 US service members were killed and many were wounded during an unmanned aerial vehicle attack on our forces stationed in northeastern Jordan, near the Syrian border. While we are still gathering the facts of this attack, we know it was carried out by radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq. Have no doubt, we will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner of our choosing."
Describing the attack as a "despicable attack," Biden characterized the soldiers who died in the attack as patriots, saying, "Together, we will carry on their sacred obligation to defend the cause of freedom. We will strive to be worthy of their honor and valor. We will continue our commitment to fighting terrorism."
"MOST ATTACKS ARE BY IRAN-LINKED GROUPS"
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) had previously announced that 3 US soldiers lost their lives and 25 US soldiers were wounded in the drone attack on the base located in a region near the Syrian border in Jordan. While no one had claimed responsibility for the attack initially, more than 158 attacks have been carried out against bases where US soldiers are located in Iraq and Syria since the conflict between Israel and Palestine began on October 7. Most of the attacks were claimed by Iran-linked groups.
US SENATOR CALLS FOR RETALIATION AGAINST IRAN
US Senator Tom Cotton called on US President Joe Biden to retaliate against Iran regarding the attack on the US base in Jordan, stating, "Anything less will confirm Joe Biden as a coward unworthy of being commander-in-chief."
US Republican Senator Tom Cotton called on US President Joe Biden to retaliate against Iran regarding the attack on the US base near the Syrian border in northeastern Jordan. Cotton said, "Joe Biden has emboldened Iran for years by tolerating attacks on our troops, paying billions in ransom, and leaving our soldiers as sitting ducks."
Emphasizing that the only response to these attacks should be devastating military retaliation against Iran's terrorist forces both in Iran and across the Middle East, Cotton said, "Anything less will confirm Joe Biden as a coward unworthy of being commander-in-chief."
