Details of Pope Leo XIV's visit to Turkey have been announced
Pope Leo XIV will visit Turkey between November 27-30, participating in various events in Ankara, Istanbul, and Iznik.
Preparations for the visit of Pope Leo XIV, the leader of the Catholic world, to Turkey have been completed. As part of the visit, the Pope will arrive in Ankara on November 27 to hold official talks. The Pope will then travel to Istanbul, where he will meet with Christian communities.
The Pope's itinerary also includes Iznik, which holds an important place in the history of Christianity. The Pope will travel to Iznik to attend the commemoration ceremonies for the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea.
On the third day of the visit, November 29, Pope Leo is scheduled to visit the Sultanahmet Mosque. On the evening of the same day, a special mass will be held at the Volkswagen Arena in Istanbul, which the Pope will lead.
With this visit, Pope Leo XIV will become the fifth Pope to visit Turkey. The visit holds great importance from both a religious and diplomatic perspective and is expected to contribute to the strengthening of relations between Turkey and the Vatican.
