Detention of İmamoğlu protested in Berlin: 'We will stand firmly against it'

Those participating in the demonstration opposed the detention decision, arguing that the process contradicts democracy. In the evening hours, Turks gathered in the center of Berlin, Mitte, to express their reaction against the decision.
During the protests, it was emphasized that İmamoğlu was elected by the votes of the people of Istanbul. The protesters argued that legal processes in Turkey should be transparent and fair. In the footage shared by the Umut Union, it was seen that hundreds of people participated in the protests.

CHP Berlin Union President İmam Kaloğlu, in his statement, expressed that this decision is contrary to democratic principles and stated the following:
''These attempts against Ekrem İmamoğlu are outside of law and democracy. We are facing an unacceptable situation for everyone who believes in democracy and the rule of law. The detention decision issued against our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu is an open attack on the will of the people and democratic values. The CHP and Ekrem İmamoğlu will not surrender to this unlawful decision.''
Kaloğlu stated that the pressures against him are not just personal but target everyone who defends democracy in Turkey, and added the following words:
''We will continue to stand by democracy, the law, and the will of the people. We will stand firmly against those who want to shape Turkey's future with arbitrary decisions. Ekrem İmamoğlu is not alone. We stand with everyone who fights for justice, freedom, and democracy.''
