Erdoğan's request to Elon Musk revealed

President Tayyip Erdoğan invited US billionaire Elon Musk to invest in Turkey for Tesla's second factory in Europe.

According to a statement from the Presidency, Erdoğan, who is in New York, USA, to attend the United Nations General Assembly, stated during his meeting with Musk that Turkey is also open to cooperation on the commercial satellite communication system Starlink and artificial intelligence.

According to the statement, Musk conveyed that they wish to work with Turkish authorities to obtain a license to offer Starlink satellite services in Turkey. Musk also expressed that he would be pleased to attend Teknofest, which will begin on September 27, upon Erdoğan's invitation.

Elon Musk arrived at the meeting held at the Turkish House with his son.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey's Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Commission Mustafa Varank, and Head of the Presidential Digital Transformation Office Ali Taha Koç were also present at the closed-door meeting.

According to the statement made by the Presidential Communications Directorate regarding the reception, during the closed-door meeting, Erdoğan explained Turkey's breakthroughs in the field of technology, the Digital Turkey Vision, and the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy to Musk.

Reminding that Tesla entered the Turkish market with Togg hitting the roads in Turkey, Erdoğan called for Tesla to establish its 7th factory in Turkey.

President Erdoğan stated that opportunities for cooperation with SpaceX could arise in the steps taken and to be taken within the scope of Turkey's space program, and invited Musk to TEKNOFEST to be held in İzmir.

Erdoğan gifted Musk the English version of his book "A Fairer World is Possible" and the book "UN Reform: A New Approach to International Cooperation," prepared by the Presidential Communications Directorate, which explains the justifications for Turkey's demand for reform in the United Nations Security Council, and also gifted a soccer ball to Musk's child.
