FSB alleges plot against UK Ambassador to Moscow: Security guard detained

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that it has detained a security guard on allegations that Ukraine was preparing an attack against the UK Ambassador to Moscow, Nigel Casey, and certain other diplomatic representatives.

According to the FSB statement, the detained individual is a 45-year-old Russian citizen working for a private security company tasked with protecting the British Embassy in Moscow. Russian intelligence alleged that the suspect was cooperating with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and gathering information to be used in the attacks.

It is alleged that the suspect transmitted details to the other side, including the residential addresses of diplomats, information regarding the embassy's security system, and details about events held at the embassy. The FSB claimed that instructions were relayed through a Ukrainian internet broadcaster known by the alias "Apostol Dmitriy," identified as Dmitriy Karpenko.

Russian intelligence claimed that the goal of the planned actions was to blame the Moscow administration for the crime. According to the FSB, the objective was to draw the UK into a direct armed conflict with Russia, increase arms shipments to Kyiv, and tighten sanctions against Russia.

It was reported that a criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code, which covers high treason, and that a preliminary investigation has been launched.

The FSB also shared with the public screenshots of alleged correspondence between the security guard and Karpenko, as well as a video recording in which the suspect reportedly repeats the intelligence agency's claims. It was alleged that the records in question contained lists of those living in the embassy residence, phone numbers, the mission chief's schedule, and plans for certain meetings.

At the end of the statement, the FSB issued a warning to Russian citizens, urging them not to establish contact with Karpenko or pro-Ukrainian broadcasters. The service argued that contact with these individuals could implicate citizens in serious crimes.
