Gaza aid ship 'Madleen' set to reach land

Foreign Ministry sources stated, "The ship named 'Madleen' is expected to reach land this evening. All kinds of consular support are being provided to our citizens, and necessary initiatives have been taken to meet with them as soon as they disembark and to ensure their release."

Sharing the information that they are also in contact with other countries that have citizens on board, the sources noted that the families of the Turkish citizens are being regularly informed about the process.

12 PEOPLE ON BOARD

"Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC)", a non-governmental organization, organized the mission to break the blockade on Gaza and deliver aid to the region. As part of this latest mission, the 18-meter sailboat set sail for Gaza from the San Giovanni Li Cuti Port in Catania, Italy, on June 1.

Activists on the Madleen ship had announced that if the Israeli army intervened, they would maintain their peaceful stance and would not offer resistance.

There are 12 people on board the ship, including French Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Rima Hassan and German citizen FFC Press Coordinator Yasemin Acar, as well as Hüseyin Şuayb Ordu from Turkey, Thiago Avila from Brazil, Sergio Toribio from Spain, Marco van Rennes from the Netherlands, Baptiste Andre, Reva Viard, Pascal Maurieras, and Yanis Mhamdi from France, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, and journalist Omar Faiad.
