Iran: We must collect payment for services provided in the Strait of Hormuz
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, in a statement regarding the regulation of passage through the Strait of Hormuz, said, "We must collect payment for the services provided in the Strait of Hormuz."
According to Iran's semi-official Fars News Agency, Baghaei made statements regarding the current agenda.
Stating that the Strait of Hormuz is located within the territorial waters of Iran and Oman according to international law and that sovereign rights belong to these two countries, Baghaei said, "We must collect payment for the services provided in the Strait of Hormuz."
Noting that the US and Israel take advantage of the situation in the Strait of Hormuz in their threats and attacks against Iran, and that this situation gives Iran the authority to take measures regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Baghaei emphasized that ensuring the security of the Strait of Hormuz would also please the international community.
Regarding the negotiations conducted with the US, Baghaei said, "What the Americans accept or do not accept does not concern us; the US does not accept many things. We must handle our own affairs ourselves."
Referring to the fact that they were attacked twice in the past while in negotiations, Baghaei stated that they are following the current talks with the US with caution under the existing conditions.
