Israel targeted critical points and figures in Iran with a series of operations carried out at midnight.
"Rising Lion", as the operation was named, involved dozens of jets and resulted in civilian casualties in Tehran and Tabriz. While it is alleged that Revolutionary Guard Commander Hossein Salami was killed, Iran has threatened retaliation.
