KRG President Barzani: We appreciate Erdoğan's role

Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) President Nechirvan Barzani made a statement regarding the terrorist organization PKK's decision to disband and lay down its arms.

In his statement, Barzani said, "We welcome the PKK's decision to disband and lay down its arms, and its compliance with Abdullah Öcalan's call. We see this step as a historic turning point that could open a new chapter for the region."

Barzani used the expression, "We evaluate this decision as an indicator of political maturity. At the same time, it is a step that will pave the way for a genuine process that will strengthen dialogue and increase stability in Turkey and the entire region."

"IT IS MOVING THE REGION TOWARD A NEW STABILITY"

In his message, Barzani included the words, "The time has now come for all relevant parties to give this important development the necessary attention and approach it positively. In addition to creating a suitable ground for a lasting and comprehensive peace, this initiative is paving the way for the end of decades of violence and suffering, and is moving the region toward a new horizon of stability and progress."

"WE APPRECIATE ERDOĞAN'S ROLE"

Barzani continued his statement as follows:

"We appreciate the role of President Erdoğan for his support of these peace efforts. As always, we support all peaceful initiatives aimed at resolving disputes in a spirit of dialogue. We hope that this historic initiative will be the beginning of a new era of understanding."

Barzani concluded his message by saying, "We are ready to provide all kinds of support for this historic opportunity to succeed."
