Macron warns Israel against the idea of attacking civilians
French President Emmanuel Macron stated that they cannot allow the idea to take hold that Israeli attacks mean destroying Gaza or indiscriminately targeting the civilian population.
Macron addressed Israel's attacks on Gaza while appearing as a guest on the France 5 channel.
Stating that they cannot allow the idea to take hold that Israeli attacks "mean destroying Gaza or indiscriminately attacking the civilian population," Macron reiterated his call for a "humanitarian pause" aimed at protecting civilians, which would subsequently lead to a ceasefire in Gaza.
"(The Israelis) must stop this response (against Gaza) because it is not appropriate, because all lives are equal, and we defend them," said Macron, adding that his country's stance on the situation in the region is "consistent and fair" and does not please any side.
Macron said that France's position is in line with his country's diplomatic history, values, and interests.
The French President expressed his sorrow over the deaths of civilians in the region.
