Netanyahu orders airlines to 'increase security measures': Pilot attempted to crash plane

Israel has taken action following an incident on a flydubai passenger aircraft operating a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered that security measures be "increased" both for Israeli airlines and for airlines operating outside of Israel.

Direct flight from Saudi Arabia to Israel

It has been reported that a plane has taken off to transport the passengers who were on the flight that made an emergency landing at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia after transmitting the 7500 code, which signifies hijacking or unlawful interference. The Israel Airports Authority stated that the passengers in Saudi Arabia would land at Ben Gurion International Airport via a rescue flight organized by flydubai.

Pilot attempted to crash the plane

Netanyahu had noted that as the plane was approaching Israel, one of the pilots stabbed the other, stating that the pilot attempted to crash the plane with the passengers on board.

The Israeli Prime Minister added that an Israeli passenger and a cabin crew member managed to enter the cockpit and stop the pilot, who was attempting to damage the aircraft's systems, and that another cabin crew member subsequently entered the cockpit and managed to take control of the plane.

Netanyahu had stated, "The pilot has been arrested and is currently being interrogated by Saudi authorities."
