It has been announced that a passenger plane belonging to the company Bering Air has gone missing in the US state of Alaska. It was noted that a search operation has been launched for the plane, which was carrying 9 passengers and one pilot.

The Nome Fire Department announced that coast guard teams in the region have been notified and that search efforts are being conducted on land. Fire department officials stated that a "C-130" type coast guard aircraft, equipped with gear capable of detecting people and objects in areas with low visibility due to severe winter conditions, will fly over the region.

According to a report by NBC News, the "Cessna 208B Grand Caravan" type aircraft, which took off from the city of Unalakleet, did not land at its destination, Nome, at the scheduled time. Noting that the Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage has also sent flight support, officials reported that teams are scanning the entire coastline from Nome to Topkok.

Officials stated that search efforts will be expanded in as many directions as possible until the plane is found. Bering Air Operations Director David Olson stated that the plane took off from Unalakleet at 14:37 local time.
